Benchmark of Nothing

I just pulled a muscle at the gym in a place I didn't knwo I had a muscle to pull.

SO I'm working feverishly on the next chapter of Black Bottle. I find that I'm at my most creative when I'm dead tired. Over the weekend we went to a birthday party at which I met my first fangirl. She's still over on LJ for now, but she's a fannish sort, and an HP lover as well so there's always hope she'll leave the dark side. It was funny because I've never met in person anyone in fandom before and I PICKED HER OUT ON SIGHT. It was confirmed only seconds later when she mentioned something about SGA. Apparently we don't have any fandoms in common really, nor any LJ friends, which is odd since so many of my friends are in fandoms that I am not, HP, SGA, Buffy, etc. Anyway, I made the mistake of having 2 diet cokes at the party and since caffeine and me have a rocky relationship I was awake until 2am or so. The next morning we all got up at 7 and drove to the middle of upstate new york to visit the Ommegang Brewery and enjoy their festival. It was cold and rainy and windy but the beer was quite good. And the four hour drive home half asleep with food and beer and a sleep deficit made for perfect daydreaming and living in my BB universe. So those two nights I got a lot of brainstorming and some actual writing done, and Sunday night I couldn't sleep either because the bunnies were biting and I got up three times to write.

I didn't touch it today until a few hours ago. I'm skimming through all my notes now and sifting out the chunks that are going in the next chapter and in doing so I stumbled upon a paragraph that was SUPPOSED to go into the last chapter but somehow I missed it. It's not a terribly important paragraph, just some sex, there is already plenty in chap 7, but it doesn't really go anywhere else in the story, and I LIKE it dammit. I'm going to have to squeeze it in there I guess. Mostly no one will ever get to read it because every time I post a chapter I have fewer and fewer readers it seems, though all new ones.. not sure what that means....

And on that topic...BB is the longest, best, and most complete thing I've written to date. Full Stop. The most gratifying feedback I get is from someone who says that they read it all in one shot, or I can tell because of the way the comments come in that they read it all in one shot. Because I've done that with fic before, but only the stuff I really really really dug. So that's a happy thought. Especially considering how long the friggin thing is getting to be. I can't read it all in one shot. I haven't been ab;e to since before chapter six. I'm a slowish reader, so thats part of it, and it's kinda boring for me to read, but still. Reading it straight through is an investment.
