I shoots things
I took the NRA handgun safety course today. I can now officially fill out the form to petition the state to allow me to give them my fingerprints, submit to a full background check, after which I will wait 8 weeks and then if they feel like it they might give me a concealed carry license that can be revoked at any time if a police officer can think of a reason to arrest me (bogus or not) at which point I won't get it back for about 2 years or so while they process my request to get my gun and license back.
No I really was this cynical before I took the course.
Is it Vermont or New Hampshire, I forget, that you don't even need a permit to have a gun. And they have an open carry law too if I recall. You can go wherever you want in VT/NH with guns strapped to you while wearing a bikini and it's perfectly legal. But travel a couple hundred miles west into Wisconsin or Illinois and you can't have a handgun at all, period. California is trying the same schtick and the feds are working hard at banning them all the time. It would sure make their jobs easier if they knew we couldn't fight back. *eyes Britian*
